  • How do you feel about adoption of children by same sex couples?

i believe that anyone is capable of loving a child as their own — this is not a trait that comes with being straight.

as i’ve said before: i am proud to be related to some of the best people in the world, some of which happen to be gay.

my uncle and his partner adopted a little boy a few years ago. the baby was growing up in an unstable environment, with parents that simply couldn’t care for him. he now has a loving “daddy” and “pop” to depend on.

gay men and women have the desire to love, teach and raise children just as much as straight people do. they have the ability to care for and be dependent on, just like straight people.

there are so many children that are spending their lives in orphanages or foster homes, and that’s a shame. there are plenty of people out there to love them … so yes, i’m very much a proponent of same sex couples adopting children.

small-minded people against this simply need to catch up with the times.

  • How much are you affected by what people say about you?

i’d like to say i’m strong enough to not be affected, but that’s definitely not the case.

for whatever reason, i take people’s comments to heart. just about every time.

i envy people who can TRULY brush comments off. seriously, they are my heroes.

people always say that words don’t hurt, but they can, and they do.

i was always told that honesty would be the best policy, and for the longest time, i was afraid to be honest to people when they would unintentionally say hurtful things.

i broke out of my shell long enough to tell a dear friend how she hurt me with her words. in turn, she took the things i pointed out to heart, despite how tactful i was. as a result — sadly — we are no longer friends.

even when you try to break the cycle, it just keeps turning with a vengeance.

  • so you had a bad day …

yeah, this pretty much takes the cake for worst day EVER.

  • How did you meet your spouse or significant other?

My husband and I met at a midnight movie in college. Random, right?!

Given that I had an early class, midnight seemed pretty daunting to go movie-watching, but I decided to go with my best friend and her boyfriend (it was his fraternity’s pledge event). I had gotten through almost an entire semester without going to a movie, but for some reason — despite the movie choice — I felt compelled to go.

Bestest, her boyfriend and I went and found a seat in the crowded theater. All of a sudden, I felt someone sit down to my right. He introduced himself as bestest’s boyfriend’s pledge brother Alex.

Not two minutes later, his arm was around me (he said it wasn’t fair for boyfriend to have all the ladies). The best part? It didn’t feel weird.

The movie was horrible … Scary Movie 3, if you’re wondering … but we just sat through it and laughed at it the whole time. From then on, we were inseparable.

  • from styrofoam ball to …

    THIS!!

it’s a carved out palm tree with shells glued around the bottom, bells for coconuts, and a Christmas light loop (to hang on the Christmas tree) … it may not be first prize material, but it’s definitely creative!

  • colin firth and pierce brosnan …

    OMG, mmm …

i just watched “mamma mia” (i’m a huge abba/a*teens fan) and I LOVED IT.

meryl streep and amanda seyfried were great, too.

that amanda  (you saw her in mean girls — “my boobs can tell when it rains” girl) is one to watch.

as alex pointed out, it’s very flamboyant, and you really have to suspend reality with the outlandish dance moves, but it’s a good visual representation of my favorite songs.
