Never gonna give you up.
Hands down, I have the BEST bed EVER. The ultimate in size and comfort, I enjoy snuggling against the soft pillows, wrapping in luxurious blankets and settling in for a day of nothingness.
But, when that day of nothingness turns into two weeks, you tend to rethink your thoughts.
Each time I got out of bed was a treat for me. I’d walk to the kitchen and feel free for a moment. I was allowed to leave the house only twice, and both times I’d wish we’d full-throttle the gas to somewhere — anywhere! — that would be a change of scenery.
Today, oh glorious day, I’m able to walk away from my nest. Bed rest as I knew it is over.
To my bed, I make this promise:
- No longer will I sit on you in stretches longer than 12 hours
- I promise to not eat each meal I consume on you
- If I do eat a meal, I will clean up any cracker crumbs that may have fallen your way
- I will make you up to look pretty more often. A pretty bed is a happy bed.
Husband and I are going to check on his brother this afternoon, and have a little dinner out to boot. I could have gone on a hospital tour and still been happy to just get AWAY for awhile.My next step out the door: work on Monday. Wish me luck!

Weekend agenda? Um, we’re supposed to do that. I think I’ll start with a shower.

I love my bed too. My wife has good taste in furniture.
Awww, yay! I can hardly stay in bed for more than 12 hours at a time, anyway. Being sick and on bedrest gets old, FAST.
Weekend agenda: make dinner for family, photo shoot this afternoon, dinner/etc downtown with friends tonight, watch a movie, make lunch for tomorrow, church in the a.m., then brainstorming about how to get young people to read the news and care about their communities.

The problem with beds that comfy is that you start to re-prioritize your life around it. You go to bed, set your alarm after doing specific calculations on exactly how long it will take you to get from the bed to out the door… then when the alarm goes off in the morning, you suddenly reassess how long your morning tasks take. Suddenly a ten minute shower seems ostentatious. Breakfast? You can just carry some leftover pizza out the door. And if you drive faster, you can leave later.
My weekend will consist of a champagne filled night with my girlfriend, a day in the science museum cataloging ancient whale fossils, some time in my ant lab doing calculations, and some quality time slaying aliens on my Xbox. Ah, the glamorous life of an aspiring scientist and all-around nerd.
shower, and then homework. LOTS of homework. And I never make my bed.

My plans for the week? I dunno…a co-worker’s mother-in-law just died, so my work schedule is even up in the air right now…

my favorite times are when Jeff makes the bed all pretty. Glad you’re out/about. This is one of the first weekends where we don’t have any plans and I love it.

No more than 12 hours in bed,wow I average maybe 5-6 hours a night in bed, if I’m lucky. I hope I never have to stay in bed all day, I’d go complety bonkers. Glad that you are feeling better.
@ken3111960 - LOL, same here (I’ve got insomnia), but I do end up sitting in bed fairly early in the evening to start calming my body down for sleep.
