  • A Ramble of Epic Proportions.

    Today is my first day off in almost two weeks. I hardly know what to do with myself, to be honest. I’ve quickly fallen into the “work is life” mindset, considering I’m there almost every waking moment. When I’m not there, I’m still thinking about it. UGH.

    At it’s core, my job is wonderful. It’s a high-profile position at a high-profile company. I get to be creative by writing about and advertising our goods. Things I say matter, and those thoughts are shared with consumers daily. Because of the economy (and new processes/people), it has been a challenge for us to get everything done in our 40-hour window. Because of that, this salaried gal has been working 60-some hours to do my part in keeping it going. We’ll get it together soon, but in the meantime … I’m consumed.

    I miss interacting with you all, but I need to do what I can to survive this crazy time in the real world. Some of you understand that, some of you don’t. At the end of the day, I’m okay with that.

    I still have a major update in store, but I want to hold off a few days on it (can’t go jinxing things, can I?). Perhaps a protected post is in order. We’ll see.

    Loves.

  • my hubby has had the same problem at work, works 60+ hours only paid for 40, whoopee for him (and you)  sorry. hugs.

  • Enjoy your day off. Take a deep breath and just relax! We miss you, but there are more important things in life than blogging.

  • Wow…I am impressed.  I think of all the things that I should’ve done differently in my life, education and career would be at the top of the list.  Congrats on having a great job that you actually enjoy.

  • Oh man, the Architect worked 60 hours last week and because of budget cuts could only bill for 35 hours and had to push the rest of the hours to the next week. Good luck with all of the work!

  • It is OK! The real world right now calls for a lot of extra work, I am there with you on that on! Stop in and say hi to us when you can

  • I have been juggling the real world, too. It must be a DFW thing.

    And I’m not on your protected list, so I vote for keeping the update public even if I have to wait on it.

  • priorities are always key.  Do what you must for you and your family…

    take a few moments for yourself in the process.

    Awaiting any post down the road.

    Blessings.

  • Hm, i just got a job. I work part time now, but only cause of school…in the summer I will work full time. Guess I have this to look forward to.

  • @Krissy_Cole - Well, you should be on the list, first and foremost, but I’ll hold off on protected for now.

    @SpongeBobScaredyPants - *hugs back*

    @LostInTheLyrics - Thank you!! muah!

    @Another_Perfect_Wonder - Remember, there’s always still time to do things differently. Do whatever makes you happy

    @TheCheshireGrins - Ugh, it sounds like Architect may need a hug, too!

    @AlterEgo909 - Of course, darling … I’m dropping in when I can.

    @edlives - Joel, you are the best. Thank you.

  • It’s alright, doll. Be sure to take time off for yourself though. Don’t let all of these things stress you out, and as I’m sure that you know, don’t let Xanga become an obligation. :)

  • Whew, 60 hours, that makes me tired just thinking about it!

    We miss your posts, but we’ll survive. Can’t wait for your life to calm down and when you can come back to us!

  • Before I was a stay at home mommy, I was a nursing assistant in the nursing home portion of the hospital.  We were often short-staffed and the work load was ridiculous, and I remember coming home many nights, falling into bed, and dreaming all night about call-lights going off and adult diapers to change.  I’d wake up exhausted feeling like I’d never left work.

    I feel for you, I hope it eases up soon.

  • I’m glad to know someone is still fighting out there. Trying to keep us going ;) I’m trying too… by being that consumer.

  • Busy beaver you are!! Very understandable. I hope all your days are going well!

    Remember to smile lots

  • You are missed but we understand!

  • Just remember to take some time for yourself occasionally and breathe.

    Good luck.

  • Coolio.

  • *HISSSSS*

    ARRGGGHHH!!! THE REAL WORLD!!!

    *HISSSSS*

  • I’ll be awaiting your big news! Have a great week!

  • a lot of my friends who work have practically become workaholics
    i never see them anymore!

  • Ooooh can’t wait for that very important update!!!!!

  • I miss all the nookie we’ve shared.

  • People actually value what you have to say? Amazing! COOL. Never stop being creative.

  • Where does one find people who value what you say?

  • You have been missed by many I’m sure but you gotta take care of real life first.  And really, you need to be taking care of YOU.  I know how it is having a job that can take over your life.  Running a non-profit sure does the same to me.  In fact I have one entire room of my house filled to the brim with stuff that doesn’t fit in my office.  And I want to have a separation from work and my personal life but I just can’t.  I get phone calls all the time (nights, weekends, holidays…) I can’t go anywhere without running into someone who wants an update on how things are… so I can kinda understand what you are going through.  Don’t worry about Xanga!  We’ll all still be here when you get back!!

    Take care of yourself!!!  I hope I’m on your protected list if you decide to post one!!! =)

  • Speaking as one who was a salaried auditor, I understand. I’m taking a “sabbatical” (hah!) this year, and some days I still find it difficult to be…lazy. To take a day for rejuvenation. I’m learning though. And I’m hoping it prepares me to go back to the real world of salaried jobs.

  • hey good luck i know what you mean I work 134 hours a week with my job 1 day off thats if i don’t get called in!!!  Good luck  tel Jennifer875 I said hi she knows me!!

  • Hope the good stuff that might be in the works… made it into the works. :)

  • Can’t wait for the update.  Gotta do what you can to keep it all going

  • i wish i can find a job where i enjoy coming to, all the time.

  • I understand your position. We have to work more and just try to stay above water! I am in the same situation and work much more than I did. Best of luck to you!
