i has feechurd …
i present to you, word vomit:
first of all, i want to thank you all for visiting my little blog. i’ve always wanted to be featured — ever-envious of other xanga-friends who have been plopped up on the front page, despite hearing them bitch about the “drawbacks”.
it never fully clicked as to how it would change my xanga-world.
sure, i knew i’d gain more readers, but after some 16,000+ views, i’ve accumulated an army.the comments, stars and recs have definitely been most appreciated … but i could do without the spam messages. (“hi, ur super prety, wanna chat?” gets old after the first few messages)
lol, and the ages of some of these bloggers! it just made me feel so old to see “kids” born in the ’90s blogging (some intelligently, some not).
i’m finding a lot of people creating xangas and adding me as their friend the same day they read my post, and honestly, it’s freaking me out a bit.
(seriously, when you get fifty friend requests from people that don’t have an established xanga base, what would you think?)i’m sure there are some that genuinely want to start a blog, and they started their networking with me. that’s cool. welcome to xanga.
BUT, i don’t want to be added just because you read a somewhat raunchy post (which wasn’t even the intent of the posting) and figure you’ll get more of the same … i write about my life and the things around me that interest me. it will be insightful and fun, but it won’t be as risqué as the girl in the hotel room. sorry to disappoint.
there are many aspects that i could do without, but i choose every day to put myself out there, and for once, i’m being noticed. thank you.

Maybe they wanted to start blogging because of your entry???
@TheCheshireGrins - that’s what i’m hoping for … but seriously, you saw the featured post. would that motivate you to start blogging?
@BarelyJen - Eh… different strokes for different folks, I suppose. You never know!
Well when your army start to thin we old timers will still be here and still love you.
Hang in there girl!
@indigolady - awww, i heart you guys!!
*sigh* – I’ve been blogging on Xanga FOREVER….and never been featured. Maybe one day it will happen. I think I’d like to know what it feels like – spam and all, just for that fleeting ‘one time’.
@venice - lol, it took years to get featured, and the experience has been fine overall (i’m just whiny this week, since i’m sick), but i just don’t know how the “serially featured” people do it!
i don’t even know how to give advice on this … it wasn’t recommended or starred until AFTER i was featured (which is how i always thought it worked) … i guess just post links to the post in featured weblogs and cross your fingers.
That’s so cool! Being featured is like a brush with xanga celebritydom–the fame, the glory, the subscribers! lol Maybe I’ll be featured someday too, but it’s not something I’m aiming for..I’m like you, blogging about my life and such. I don’t think I could be consistently funny or interesting enough to get featured regularly like RockofEadie or BlackSpiderMan, but hell..we’re all on xanga for different reasons. lol I’m not even as committed to it as I once was, so I blog about whatever I feel like. It it happens to get noticed–yay! If not, that’s cool too. ^_^
I didnt know you then… I somehow managed to unsubscribe you. so now I am being a stalker.
I love this post! I am started to go through some of it now as I get more traffic to my site. I can totally relate.
You never cease to amaze me!
@der_lila_Stern - Awww, I’m glad you’re back! (And I love the good stalkers
)
