a childhood flashback …
husband was flipping through some sound clips today and played this:it made my day and brought me back a *few* years …
(sonic the hedgehog was like crack, and game gear was the dealer.)

what sounds, sights or smells send you on a trip down memory lane?

the candy that “he” got me the other day…jelly nougats, they remind me of my papa…as do lemon drops. anytime i hear old gospel music…my mom and i used to drive down the road holding hands when i was about 5 and she would constantly sing the old time gospel music. and the smell of old wood burning fireplaces…there are so so many! oh but on your gaming side…anything atari but especially frogger and what is that one called? you know where the guy has to walk along and …oh, pitfall!
@jediwa72 - omgoodness, atari! i loved that
and i have a bag of lemon drops sitting on my desk — they’re sooo good!
@BarelyJen - yeah..i bought some the other day and left them in my truck and now they’re all stuck together.
Aaah that is such a great song! The noise the brings me back? The sound of a pokemon battle in Pokemon yellow for the gameboy color.
I have that game! I got the collection, cheah!
Cucumber melon from bath &body works reminds me of Simmin Rock College of Bard. Bird Flu by Hopesfall reminds me of the color darkroom in the Art Institute of Boston. I suppose there’s a bit more.
@OctavoDia - oooooh, good one. another great: super mario bros, castles theme. “du-duh du-duh. du-duh du-duh.”
I smiled when I listened.
Sonic is one of my all time favorite video games.
The other day a little girl came in with a stuffed Sonic doll. I was like WOW!! :]
I had that Sega too
SONIC ROCKS! i actually have like almost every sonic theme song from almost every level of the game on my mp3 player! lol
God bless! have a great day.
Any song from my childhood will send me immediatly back to whatever grade I was in when it was popular….Yesterday I heard a song by Paula Abdul and it sent me back to like…third grade in the back yard of my best friends house making up dances to show our parents…..
Anytime that I go into a department store that sales nice leather coats or hand bags it reminds me of the barn where I spent so much of my childhood with my grandmother, and the other night at trivia we heard some old 311 and it took me back to my senior year in high school. Everyone else was listening to pop and thought I was weird! Maybe they were right! I can remember the very first Mario Bros that also had the duck hunting, that music makes me think of Halloween at my cousin’s apartment! thanks for the memory jog, M
The Captain Planet song brings me back to my childhood days in the early 90s!
That was so old school…all I remember is those cheezy sound effects and graphics…tho Super Mario definitely bring back some good childhood memories with sore Nintendo thumbs.
I still have my gamegear. Though sadly it’s traveled so much that it’s dead now.
The Batman Animated Series always did the same for me. I started buying up the DVDs recently.
@Allen_Oz - i have mine in a closet somewhere … i think i’d be devastated if it didn’t work, but i’m sure it wouldn’t.
@BarelyJen - Nice interview Btw. I’d love to do that sometime, but I’d feel to vain to ask. Normally I do the interviewing.
@Allen_Oz - same here. it was odd applying to be interviewed. eh, in the blogging business, you’ve got to put yourself out there to keep going
@BarelyJen - So that’s why you did it!
@Allen_Oz - well, that, and it was just plain fun … jonathan is one of my faves!!
Oh wow… I had completely forgotten about game gear until this post. And Sonic was THE MAN. Er, the hedgehog? Besides, Tails was nifty too
