Vote for love — “A daughter’s love” — cre13′s photo contest
My wedding day was an explosion of love. Our family and friends gathered to celebrate the love of myself and the man I was destined to love forever. But he would not be the first to hold my heart. That honor belongs to the first love of my life: my daddy.
I remember walking down the aisle with him. As we waited to begin, I was an anxious wreck. My father simply took my hand and I could breathe again. As we walked, I stopped and took a (rather loud) breath. His grip tightened. He knew what was coming, and he knew it was time. As daddy handed me over, he leaned in to husband and said “I trust you.”
Husband takes that seriously, to this day.
The father/daughter dance was a bittersweet event. To us, it was a small good-bye to the little girl I used to be. “You are a beautiful woman now, but you will always be my little girl.” I drank in his smell — the faintest trace of cologne and cigarettes lingered on his lapel — and I made a memory that will last a lifetime.
I love you, Daddy.I have entered this into Cre13′s photo contest about love. Please stop by and check it out (and vote for my entry, of course!).
What’s your favorite memory of your parent(s)?

The bad news: I’d already voted before I saw this post.
The good news: I’d already voted for yours.
@randomneuralfirings - awwww, thank you! You can vote once each day, if you’d like!
I voted for you
and I’ll try to remember to vote each day
I already voted for you
I have another one to vote for tomorrow, but depending on how long voting is, I’m sure I’ll vote for this one again.
Dancing with my dad was one of my favorite moments at my wedding. Whenever the song we danced to comes on the radio it always makes me smile. I’ll be sure to vote for you
i love my dad too. my dad has always been there for me, and now that he has cancer, it is my turn to be there for him.
“You are a beautiful woman now, but you will always be my little girl.”
Aww that line reminds me of my father-daughter dance at my wedding because we used the song My Little Girl by Tim McGraw. My dad had never heard the song before that moment and he was very impressed with the lyrics. He’s not a very emotional guy, but i’m sure he would have cried if he was!
This is sweet. :]
But. I have no favorite memories of my parents. :
did anyone ever tell you you look like amanda byrnes?
people like you make me want to hang myself.
Aw such a sweet photo!
Hm favourite memory…probably just the vacations we took in the summer. We always learned so much and went to amazing places.
This is really sweet! I really haven’t spoken to my father for the better part of six years, so I’m a little jealous, but I’m happy for you that you have such a wonderful memory to cherish.
beautiful foto
I cherish the times with my parents these days. Growing up I loved it when we’d visit my grandparents after church on Sundays.
awwwww, very sweet….
Miss ya! I hope all is well!
When dad wasn’t drinking and beating up my mum.
